I’ve created a series of videos for my clients to help them navigate their new WordPress websites.
In this second video, I’m going to show you how to backup your WordPress website using the plugin UpdraftPlus.

Thanks for watching. If this was helpful, let me know. If it wasn’t let me know why not. Much appreciated!

- Click on Settings to begin setting up your plugin.
- Now, you are at the Settings page for UpdraftPlus. Click on the Settings Tab.
- Set your preferred schedule for automated backups. I recommend Weekly backups.
- Also, set how many backups you would like to keep. To prevent backups from using all your storage, do not set this number too high.
- Next, you need to select a remote storage location.
- Updraft has its own storage for a fee.
- You can setup with Dropbox.
- You can set up with Microsoft OneDrive.
- You can set up with FTP. Make sure you have adequate storage.
- You can also set up with Email. But I don’t recommend this as it results in very large email files.
- But in this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to set up with Google Drive. It’s easy, simple and cheap to upgrade storage.
- Click on “Google Drive”.
- Then scroll down and click “Save Changes”.
- Next, we need to authenticate the plugin to connect to Google Drive. Click the link in the pop-up window.
- You will then be prompted to log into your Google account.
- When done, grant access to your Google account by clicking the Allow button.
- Then click Complete Setup.
- You have now connected UpdraftPlus to your Google Account.
- To make a backup at any time. Click the Backup Now button.
- Select your options to backup. I recommend the default options. Click Backup Now when ready.
- After a few moments, your backup will be completed.
- To view completed backups, scroll down. You may need to refresh the screen.
- The Google Drive icon indicates that the backup is stored there.
- To restore any backup, click on the Restore Button.
- You are all done. Now you can safely update your website.
- Thanks for watching it.
